- I just bought a Motorola Power 28.8 and it came with rev 2. I
- downloaded rev 4, but am having some problems with upgrading my modem.
- When I try to do so from MS-DOS mode from within Windows95, it does
- not recognize the modem. (it says it can't find it)
-
- When I boot up my hard drive with an old DOS (pre-Win95) bootdisk and
- try to run the UPDATE program, it recognizes the modem (I think), but
- when it gets to the "Attempting soft-downloading . . " (maybe it's
- "Attempting <something else here> . . ."), it kicks me out to DOS. It
- looked like it went through a few things, but it took a total of about
- 1-2 minutes. And when I checked out the REV in my comm program, it
- said 2!!! This cannot be correct since it should take 5-10 minutes to
- transfer the 1 meg file to the modem, right?
-
- In short, I would appreciate ANY and ALL suggestions concering
- upgrading my ROM from rev 2 to rev 4 using Windows95 and/or MS-DOS
- mode.
-
- Oh -- another question. When I called into my Internet Service
- Provider with my old modem, Win95 only took about 20-30 seconds to
- connect and give me the connect speed (which was usually 14.4), but
- with my new Motorola Power 28.8, it takes about 50-60 seconds before
- it connects and gives me a connect speed. What can I do so that the
- waiting time is much less. One minute waiting is no fun.. :(
-
- You can either e-mail me or post a message to this newsgroup. Thanks
- in advance for any help!!
